The Centro Studi “Eric Sams”, named in memory of the great English musicologist and Shakespeare scholar has the primary aim of developing  the research in the field of the German Lied. The Centro Studi intends to take stock of the current state of research in Italy and abroad, providing a bibliography of the accessible sources and promoting the online publication of articles and essays. Among the projects of the Centro Studi:

● The on-line publication of Eric Sams's writings, including previously unpublished essays, reviews and letters (on Music, on Shakespeare, on Cryptography);

● Italian edition of the Collected Works by Eric Sams in 15 volumes (7 volumes already published);

● The Italian translation, and online print/reprint, of significant English, American and German texts on the history and aesthetics of German Lied; online print/reprint of Lied-related essays in original language;

● An archive (The Lieder Sound Archive) of downloadable recordings, open to singers, pianists, composers, instrumentalists, whose performances and compositions may be selected and included.

Il Centro Studi “Eric Sams”, intitolato alla memoria del grande musicologo e studioso di Shakespeare recentemente scomparso, ha come fine lo sviluppo  della ricerca nel campo del Lied tedesco. Il Centro Studi  si propone di fare il punto sull’attuale stato degli studi relativi alla Storia e all’estetica del Lied tedesco, stilando una bibliografia delle fonti accessibili e pubblicando on-line articoli e saggi inediti. Tra i progetti del Centro Studi:

● La pubblicazione on-line degli scritti di Eric Sams in lingua originale, compresi importanti inediti (di argomento musicale o su Shakespeare);

● La pubblicazione dell'Opera omnia di Eric Sams in lingua italiana (15 volumi, di cui 7 già editi);

● La traduzione di testi fondamentali del repertorio bibliografico inglese, americano e tedesco; la pubblicazione online di saggi inediti;

● L'istituzione di un archivio sonoro del Lied tedesco in Italia  (The Lieder Sound Archive) fruibile on-line, con la possibilità per artisti (cantanti, pianisti, compositori, strumentisti) italiani e stranieri di vedere selezionate e pubblicate su web le proprie incisioni;

● La formazione musicologica (applicata alla prassi) degli interpreti e dei docenti di Musica Vocale da Camera in Italia.
